# Welcome

Overview of Aeterna

Aeterna ("*eternal*" or "*forever*" from Latin) is a peer to peer private digital signing service and archive over distributed networks.

Why we are different:

* No trusted intermediaries, the user data is end-to-end encrypted so we cant see it, therefore cant leak or sell it. Our backend has no database
* No registrations, no third party apps or extensions to install, your identity is backed into your hardware (passkeys in iPhone, Windows Hello, Chrome password manager etc)
* Forever data access, even if the app is down.
* Post-quantum encryption (standard MLKEM-1024 via FIPS203)
* Operations are done over distributed storage layer of hundreds of nodes across the globle, your files are practically impossible to delete
* No recurring charging, you pay once per document / file and it is stored permanently
